BioGerry moved to
Canada from Glasgow Scotland
in 1969 at
the age of 8. His family located to Scarborough for 3 years then moved to
Ajax in 1972 where Gerry basically grew up with his mom, dad and 2 sisters
with minor living experiences in England, Greece and Turkey.
Growing up in rural Ajax, one was either a hockey player
or a musician, so Gerry took up the guitar at 14 and quickly discovered
there was an over abundance of guitarists and an over abundance of bass
gigs, so Gerry crossed the tracks and immediately took to the bass. Never
looking back, playing, learning and jamming with anyone who would listen.
By the time Gerry was 23 he was a veteran of bars, clubs
and dance halls playing in top 40 bands all over Toronto and Durham region
picking up bass licks and sound re-enforcement skills along the way. The
late 80's, early 90's brought
studio work and
house band gigs at the Genosh Hotel with Coup de Ville. In 2000 Gerry played
with The Lapdogs, Mode Land Road, The Benders while attending as many open
mic nights around Durham as possible sitting in with anyone who would let
him.
Gerry has been married for 25 years to Rosita (Yeah same
girl, go figure) and has to kids, Zach who is attending Trent University in
Peterborough and Michelle who is attending Durham College.
Currently Gerry is recording his solo album
Jet Stream as well as playing and recording
with his new band The Cardenas, plus jamming and recording with his close
friends.
